Peckham started with the Marlborough Fire Department 35 years ago and has advanced through the ranks during his career. He started as a dispatcher and worked his way through to battalion chief, which was his previous position. Crews led by him have responded to medical emergencies, major road crashes, technical rescues, structure fires, and other high-risk incidents.
While shift commander and battalion chief, he supervised the personnel at the three fire stations in the city. He also oversaw inspections and compliance, managed training programs, and was the liaison for the department for state reporting requirements and fire communications.
Peckham has remained active in professional development efforts related to fire service and has participated in numerous leadership conferences. He has also been a mentor to many officers and firefighters throughout the department and has been committed to leadership development and training.
