Lieutenants Matthew Hassapes and Robert Jusseaume of the Marlborough Police Department have been promoted to Captains. This is an important event in the department in that this is the first time in over two decades that officers have been elevated to the rank of captain.

Lieutenant Jusseaume is known within the department to be honest, dedicated, and fair and has served the department for over 35 years. During that period, 26 years were in management or supervisory roles. He has worked in a variety of divisions, including administrative services, traffic enforcement, and criminal investigations.
Lieutenant Hassapes has also been with Marlborough Police Department for his entire career. He led the investigations unit for the past eight years where he led detectives through cases that involved complex financial crimes and homicides. He has also worked with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to strengthen partnership with them.
J. Christian Dumais, Mayor of Marlborough, said these are well deserved promotions for the officers and historic ones for the city. He added that both lieutenants exemplify the leadership, professionalism, and dedication that make residents proud of the Marlborough Police Department. He said that he has confidence that they will continue to serve the city as captions and to help direct the future of the department.
