Marlborough continues summer internship program
The Mayor’s Summer Internship Program is now open for applications for students in the city of Marlborough.
This program offers students in the area who are in high school, have recently graduated from high school and may be taking a gap year, or are in college worthwhile opportunities to develop professional skills, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to the community. The goal of the internship program is to foster the next generation of leaders and provide a platform for those interested in public service.
The program takes place from June to August, during which time students work up to 25 hours a week in a department in the city along with an employee or department head. Among the departments from which students may choose to work are Building/Construction/Code Enforcement, Information technology, Recreation, Public Housing, and Engineering/Urban Planning.
Poster printing can be used throughout a community to promote such worthy programs to young people.
Mayor J. Christian Dumais said that last year in this program it was great to see students who were excited and eager to contribute to municipal government. He added that a unique opportunity is introduced by this internship into a career path that students may not have previously considered and from which they will gain valuable firsthand experience.
Applications are due by Wednesday April 30.
