Special day for families comes to Everett
The Malden YMCA, which serves Malden, Medford, and Everett, will be sponsoring a Family Fun Day at the Everett Farmers’ Market this coming week.
This event is being held to kick off the school year and will have fresh fruits and vegetables and other goodies, including chowder and New England comfort foods from the Chowda Heads, and cooling Richie’s Slush.
Many activities for kids are planned and will include face painting, a moon bounce, and a Scavenger Hunt. Also scheduled are several YMCA activities and more educational programs that include nutritional information. Free school supplies will be made available to those who come to the Fun Day. Also attending will be Raising a Reader MA Tri-City, which will be offering an hour of storytime to the children.
Sponsors of the Family Fun Day include the YMCA. The Everett Farmers’ Market, Energize Everett, Mass in Motion and the City of Everett. It seems that the sponsors have worked together with a local print company to create a colorful and eye-catching piece that will generate enthusiasm in the community and attract as many people as possible to the event.
The Family Fun Day is scheduled for August 19 from 1:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Everett Square Municipal Parking Lot. The Farmers’ Market runs until October 28 with a changing array of vendors every week.
