Malden to renovate building for housing for veterans
The Volunteers of America of Massachusetts (VOAMASS) has purchased an existing structure on Salem Street in Malen for an affordable housing project. The structure will be renovated to offer 12 studio apartments reserved for veterans in the city.
The property is three stories tall and had been used for office space. It will be renovated by VOAMASS to create these studio apartments, of which 10 will be designated as affordable housing. VOAMASS will also be offering supportive services and other care for residents as part of the project.
Such projects can benefit from brochure printing to provide more details about their features and amenities.
President and CEO of VOAMASS, Charles E. Gagnon, expressed his thrill to be working with Mayor Christenson’s team and the city of Malden to create more affordable and safe housing for veterans. He said that this project would not be possible without the support of the two state senators, Ed Markey and Elizabeth Warren, Congresswoman Katherine Clark, and Jon Santiago, Secretary of the state Executive Office of Veterans Services. He added that such strong federal, state, and local collaborations are important parts of the effort to give veterans in the city of Mladen the resources they deserve and need.
Once a building permit has been issued, it is expected that the work will take between 12 and 18 months to complete. Residents should be able to move in sometime in 2027.
