The award, worth $1.98 million, is to be used to finish the last design phase of the Broadway Reconstruction Project. This means that the planning work is sufficiently advanced so that work can begin almost immediately after this last phase is completed.
The project runs along Broadway from the border with Melrose to that with Everett. Included improvements will be a signal at the intersection of Grover and Taylor Streets, six new turn lanes, ADA-compliant curb ramps, retimed traffic signals, 19 new crosswalks, expanded infrastructure for stormwater, upgraded pedestrian signals, new landscaping and trees along the street, and wayfinding improvements.
Local Print shops often assist in spreading the word about such improvements to major corridors throughout a city with Posters, Flyers, and other printed materials.

“We won this highly competitive grant because we have a clear vision for the Broadway corridor that promotes safe and efficient travel for all users, creates a walkable corridor for residents and promotes a business-friendly environment to incentivize economic development.”
The Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development program of the United States Department of Transportation funded $1.584 million of the grant while the required 20 percent local match will be provided by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
