Special artistic display comes to Malden
The business community and the arts will be coming to Malden in a few days with the ninth annual Window Arts Malden project.
Businesses on Centre, Ferry, and Pleasant Streets will be giving over their windows to 23 local artists so that they can create a public outdoor gallery in the square. The project enables artists and the type of work they do to be matched with businesses and locations in downtown Malden, looking to meet the objectives of their artistic creations.
The community will gather at City Hall Plaza where Mayor Gary Christenson will make opening remarks and conduct a ribbon cutting ceremony. There will be live music in the streets and artists will be available at their window displays to meet the community and talk about their windows.
Window Arts Malden is one of the projects of Malden Arts, a non-profit organization made up of all volunteers that looks to make artists feel welcome and inspired in the community. It also hopes to ensure that local lives are enriched by learning about and experiencing art.
Malden Arts could working with a banner printing company to inform and attract the community to the event. The exhibit of these artworks will run from September 21 to October 14 with an ‘Art Stroll’ on the evening of Thursday, September 25, from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
