What's Happening in Malden, MA…

School in Malden adds more names to its graduate list

Malden High School has welcomed 25 new students to the Class of 2014 at its recent graduation ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony was student orator Kemira Jones, along with Principal Dana Brown.

Jones described how the support of both Brown and Assistant Principal Christopher Mastrangelo throughout her four years at the high school made a difference in her education. Principal Brown applauded the staff and students for working together to overcome the many obstacles encountered on the way to graduation.

Malden High School holds a six-week summer session with courses that range from those required for graduation to electives, and is open to students in grades eight through 12. According to Ronald Janowicz, program director, students enroll to make up credits from the previous year or to take courses for summer enrichment.

Tuition is charged for the program and, in the past four years, it has had 170 students from Malden and the surrounding communities. Janowicz has been with the program since 1992 but explained that it changes every year, with the most recent session having more online classes. Commenting further, he said that the students who recently graduated worked hard, and deserve respect for completing their courses for graduation and earning diplomas.

Often, print companies are called upon to produce programs for such events, so attendees can follow along and read up on additional information.
