Salvation Army seeks donations for families and children in need
So as to make the holiday season more cheerful for 225 families, which translates into nearly 600 children in the area, the Mystic Valley Salvation Army, located in Malden, is holding several fundraisers this month to help those in need.
Allison Labbe, Mayor of Malden, has explained that the Salvation Army, with the assistance of the Malden Public Library and other organizations, is having an Angel Tree Toy Drive. Those who want to donate can look over a wish list from children in the area and select the items they want to offer.
Alternately, donors can ‘adopt’ an entire family and take care of the full wish list of the household.
Donations of new, unwrapped toys and board games are also being accepted by the Salvation Army and will be distributed between December 17 and December 19.
The Malden Observer is working with the Salvation to solicit donations for relief funds during the holiday and throughout the year. The Salvation Army will accept monetary donations mailed to its headquarters or those that are dropped off at red Christmas kettles in front of supermarkets in Malden, Melrose, Medford, and Everett.
Labbe is hoping that, during this holiday season, $42,000 can be raised to go towards food and assistance with utility bills and other forms throughout the year. Poster printing is a great way to make these fundraisers known in the community.
