River rocks at heart of summer workshop in Malden

Idle Hands Craft Ales will be holding Art Classes@The Brewery: River Rocks in Malden to Remember later this month, hosted by The Gallery@57.

This session is geared towards those who like to make their own gifts and may be interested in learning how to paint using river rocks. A local artist, Anita Coehlo, will teach attendees how to use local materials to create mementos that are lasting and affordable from river rocks. The stones are waterproof and enable people to create intricate designs that can be displayed on a treasure shelf, either indoors or in a garden.

The cost of the session is $35, and all materials are included. No prior experience is needed. Such special workshops are often promoted throughout a city and neighboring communities with poster printing.

The mission of the Gallery@57 is to create a permanent home for artists in Malden to showcase and sell their work. The Gallery@57 seeks to be active in the community and to bring together artists who reflect this passion for giving back, while believing that art has value and makes an important contribution to the economy of the city.

The session will be held on Tuesday, July 25 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. It will be at Idle Hands Craft Ales on Commercial Street in Malden.
