Malden YMCA receives grant to increase programs for the needy

Tufts Health Plan has given a grant of $100,000 to the Malden YMCA to support a number of the organization’s programs.

The grant will go towards initiatives that promote healthy living for all children and adults and address issues of hunger in communities. The Malden YMCA, which serves the cities of Malden, Medford, and Everett, has had a long-standing relationship with Tufts Health Plan.

The YMCA plans to use the funds from the grant for many events and programs for the young, families, and seniors, with a focus on addressing hunger in the cities it serves. The YMCA has a new initiative, the Rover Food Truck, and now with the money from Tufts Health Plan, it will be able to deliver free groceries to community centers and food pantries. More Pop-Up Markets will also be able to be held with other events that will distribute household items and groceries at no charge to those in need.

Poster printing can be used in key locations so those in the communities served by such organizations will know where to find important resources.

Debbie Amaral, CEO of the Malden YMCA, said that her organization and Tufts Health Plan have worked together for many years as they share a mission and a commitment to enable healthy living for people of all ages. She expressed her gratitude for this new grant and Tufts’ support, which will now enable the YMCA to expand its programs and initiatives to more families and individuals.
