What's Happening in Malden, MA…

Malden to host two artistic workshops

There will be two workshops at Idle Hands Craft Ales in Malden next month as part of the Art Classes@The Brewery series.

Poster printing is often used throughout a city to let residents know of such creative workshops.

The first will be the Linocut Printmaking workshop. This will be an evening of craft and creativity that will enable attendees to learn a new skill and explore their more artistic side. Chie Yasuda will be the instructor for the class who will unveil the world of linocut printmaking.

Attendees will be introduced to the tools and techniques needed to create linocut prints. The workshop will cover designing and carving a linoleum block as well as inking and printing. This will be a complete hands-on experience. People of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. This workshop will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday May 6.

The second one will be creating an upcycled keepsake box. This will be a mixed media class that will enable attendees to create a personalized treasure box that will blend creativity, nostalgia, and techniques of upcycling. Ordinary cigar boxes will be transformed into art pieces that have their own visual story. The fee for this workshop is $40 which includes the price for all materials. This workshop will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday May 20.
