Malden to host fundraising gala for Chinese community

The Chinese Culture Connection will be presenting its Fundraising Gala and Awards Ceremony for the 19th consecutive year at Ming’s Seafood Restaurant in Malden next month.

This event will feature a feast with a traditional Chinese banquet of 10 courses. There will also be silent and live auctions with a selection of experiences and items that support the mission of the organization to preserve the Chinese cultural heritage in the community.

Such events and their fundraising efforts are often promoted throughout the community with poster printing.

Several people will be honored during the gala. Gary Christenson, mayor of Malden, will be receiving the Diversity and Inclusion Award for his work to build an inclusive environment in the city. Susan Chinsen, Creative Producer at ArtsEmerson and the founder of the Boston Asian American Film Festival, will receive the Outstanding Arts and Culture Award for her work in uplifting the narratives of the communities of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

Justin Tseng, Medford City Councilor, will receive the Excellence in Community Service Award as an advocate for inclusivity in the community of Medford. Linda Zalk, a community activist and special education teacher, will receive the Edward F. O'Connell Inspirational Service Award for her work to better the lives of others.

This event will take place from 5:30pm to 9:00pm on Saturday, April 6. Tickets are $125 each for members and $150 for non-members.
