Malden to enhance citys largest park

A grant of $400,000 has been given to Malden for improvements at Devir Park.

The park which is the largest in the city spans 8.1 acres and will be renovated so that it can meet the needs of the many youth organizations and residents using the park. It is planned that over 60 new trees will be planted, park entrances will be more clearly defined, accessible walkways through the park will be created, and a loop walkway with shade trees and benches will be built. The walkway will connect fitness stations and several destinations in the southern part of the walk.

In addition, the baseball fields in the western part of the park will be removed and a new regulation softball field for women will be installed. The recreation fields will be enlarged for the accommodation of a high school soccer field of regulation size.

There will be new equipment in the playground, with areas defined for those between the ages of two and five and between the ages of 5 and 12. A new resilient rubber safety surface that offers accessibility will be installed. More details about such plans are often showcased using flyer printing services.

The renovations will be done in two phases. The design plans for these two phases are being finalized by landscape architects and site planning consultant Shadley Associates.
