Malden to celebrate anniversary
The Malden Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a community birthday party this month as part of the Summer Festivals of the city. This year, the Chamber is celebrating its 130th anniversary.
Such special celebrations are often made known throughout a city with banner printing.
The Festival will open with live music, art, games, eating, and shopping at noon in Malden Center. From 3:00 until 6:00 pm, the community birthday party will take place on the lawn of the Malden Public Library on Salem Street. There will be photo opportunities, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, the Living Statues, the Year of Dining Raffle Kick-Off, and the outdoor Made in Malden Museum.
Also at 3:00 pm will be live music by Outrageous Fortune. This will be followed at 3:30 pm with comedy, interactive illusions, and mindreading as magician Phil Smith strolls through the city. There will be a Victorian Costume Competition with the announcement of prize winners at 4:00 pm and the Sweet Heart Serenades holding an old-time sing-along at 4:30 pm.
Several restaurants in the city will be featuring an 1891 special where the meal will be $18.91. Among the eateries participating in this special will be Evviva Trattoria, El Potro Mexican Bar and Grill, Pearl Street Station, and the Dockside Restaurant and Bar.
All events will take place on Saturday, July 24.
