Malden offers free parking for shopping in town
A new parking validation program is now effect for businesses in Malden Center.
Developed by the Malden Redevelopment Authority and the office of Mayor Gary Christenson, the program will enable businesses in Malden Center to validate parking for up to four hours with no cost to the businesses. Those businesses participating in the program will be displaying window decals with the ParkMalden 4-Hour Validation logo design in their storefront windows.
Those visiting Malden center need to park in in the Jackson Street Parking Garage at 7 Jackson Street or the Central Business District Parking Garage on Centre Street. After patronizing a business with the ParkMalden 4-Hour Validation decal, visitors present their parking garage ticket to the business to have their tickets validated so they can stay shopping in the center of town for four hours.
Christenson said that the city wanted to show how much it appreciated the businesses that were able to remain open during the past year by eliminating any obstacles that would prevent customers from returning to the Center for shopping. He added that this new program will enable customers to stay in the downtown area for longer periods of time, and rediscover all that businesses in downtown Malden have to offer.
The program runs Monday through Friday, as the two garages in the downtown already offer free parking on the weekends.
