Malden fire department to accept delivery of new equipment

A new custom-built engine and aerial ladder is now at the Malden Fire Department. This new equipment is part of an investment of $1.5m by the city to modernize the department.

The equipment will be assigned to Engine 2 at the Central Fire Station. The 2020 pumper and the ariel ladder were built by the E-One Fire Apparatus Company based on specifications developed by personnel from the Malden Fire Department. The pumper carries 780 gallons of water on board and can distribute 1,500 gallons per minute, in addition to more than 2,000 feet of water supply and fire attack, supply hose lines, and other rescue and firefighting equipment. Poster printing is often carried out by local print shops, using posters of varying sizes, shapes, and colors to inform the community of such new equipment.

Gary Christianson, mayor of Malden, expressed his pleasure in the city’s commitment to the department and its men and women as demonstrated with this investment in new equipment. He added his thanks to the Controller Chuck Ranaghan and Ron Hogan, Director, and their Finance Department who have made it possible for the city to spend this money. He also thanked the City Council for their support of this equipment.

The delivery of the new aerial ladder and pumper is expected before the end of the month.
