Malden film series to focus on the city
Urban Media Arts (UMA) and the city of Malden are partnering on a “Filmbuilding Malden: Our City in Motion” program.
This program will enable the public to enjoy a series of screening events that will focus on Malden and its places, people, culture, nature, and history to offer a unique lens of the city. There will be no cost to attend these films and each will include time for discussion.
Such special events and series are often promoted throughout a city with flyer printing.
The Who is Malden Film Series will be introduced with two films that highlight several voices from the community of Malden. An interactive discussion will follow each film. There will also be artwork by Grace Julian Murthy, Rosene Wine, and other artists from Gallery@57 whose work features places in and the community of Malden. There will be a dessert reception on the balcony of City Hall following the screenings.
The first film is by Maryanne Smith, Karen Lynch, Pamela Bronder-Giroux, Hannibal Rosa, and Kobena Bonney with guidance from Dan Girmus, while the second film is by Doc Havey, Jessica Frazier Vasquez, Alex Onuoha, and Martha Bezzat, with guidance from Nasara Hasan.
These introductory films will be shown on Saturday, September 23 from 7:00 to 9:30 pm at City Hall. Doors open at 6:30 pm and reservations are required as seating is limited.
