What's Happening in Malden, MA…

Malden creates new resource for residents

The city of Malden now has a new Transparency Center that will act as a platform for residents to learn more about project management and spending in the city.

Gary Christenson, mayor of Malden, said that this is an extension of the budget platform that was unveiled along with the budget for fiscal year 2022. He said that once the city received its money from the American Rescue Plan, it was looking for a way to share its progress with residents. The Transparency Center is part of the Cleargov suite of software developed for municipal governments that enables residents to understand and participate in government decisions.

The new platform is available to residents on the website of the city. Residents can be directed to such websites through mailers and other materials created by local print shops. Information about demographics of the city, revenue and expenses, and the statuses of projects around the city are available on the website.

The mayor said that the website is a work in progress, but residents can learn a great deal about projects in the city, including the improvements at Trafton Park and the renovation of Devir Park. He urged residents to frequently check the website as new content is posted and to sign up for updates or to submit questions.

The new site can be found here.
