Knitting and movie to come to Malden

Two special events will be taking place in Malden this month.

Local print shops can be hired by the respective organizations to create posters and other materials to promote such events.

The first is Art Classes@The Brewery: Have a Beer and Learn to Knit at Idle Hands Craft Ales on Commercial Street. Attendees can enjoy a beer and learn the basic knitting skills needed to create two coasters, called mug rugs. Host of the Idle Hands Stitch n'B***h and founder of Yarnbug Hand-Knits, Mikaela Bartels, will lead the session.

The cost is $30 for the session is $30 and includes materials. Attendees can select one or two colors for the mug rugs from white, blue, green, and red. No experience is necessary. The session is limited to 15 people. This will be held on Tuesday, December 13 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Also, Family Night will be held at the Malden Public Library on Salem Street. The film will be based on the kids’ book “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile” by Bernard Waber. The movie is rated PG and stars Shawn Mendes (as Lyle), Constance Wu, and Javier Barden. There is no charge to see the movie and it is open to the general public, but registration is recommended by contacting the library. This event will be held on Wednesday, December 14 at 6:00 pm.
