The Galeria Café, serving traditional food from Venezuela and coffee, recently opened in Lowell, Massachusetts.

This new eatery has been a long-time dream of the Barazarte family, who have close to 15 years’ experience opening and operating a bakery. They are now bringing their cooking venture to Lowell and have stated their excitement about doing so.

According to Ysabel Barazarte, who came from the South American nation to run the café, running this restaurant has been a family tradition and is now very much a labor of love.

There is a mix of traditional café and Venezuelan cuisine that has taken two years to design, said the daughter of Ysabel, Ariana Barazarte, who is the creator of the menu.

The Galeria Café is located across from City Hall and will also provide a place where local artists can exhibit their work. It has deep roots in the artistic community; the walls of the café as well as the counters and tables are adorned with the work of local artist Ismael Rosado.

The daughter-in-law of Ysabel, Geraldine Morillo Barazarte, says having artwork in the café is a way of giving back to the local art community.

The use of Banners across the café is one way the Barazarte family can let the community know about the new food option being offered.
