Lowell workshop to teach beginner-friendly crochet techniques

Crochet novices should note that Western Avenue Studios & Lofts in Lowell will hold the Classic Granny Square Basics Workshop next month for anyone looking to improve their skills.

Western Avenue is a five-story industrial space in Lowell that contains vendor spaces and artist studios, which are open for any artist looking to make art or teach it. Over 350 artists utilize the space to create in the fields of photography, ceramics, woodworking, fiber art, painting, and mixed media art.

The Classic Granny Square Basics Workshop will be beginner friendly, with attendees needing to only be familiar with the chain stitch and either the double or single stitch. The instructor will teach the class how to begin a round, master a double stitch, and ultimately create the traditional granny square. Participants will also learn how to join these squares using an invisible join method, which is used to create Bags, blankets, and more.

Workshops like this are often advertised in the form of Flyers that can be distributed in locations such as community centers and libraries. Organizers may seek out the flyer printing services of their local Print shops to produce these in bulk.

The crochet workshop is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 30 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Western Avenue Studios & Lofts is located at 122 Western Avenue.
