Western Ave Studios in Lowell will host the Flora and Feathers embroidery show beginning in March and running into the beginning of April.
The embroidery show will feature Kelsey Engvik of Dali of the Dogs Embroidery. Kelsey is a self-taught embroidery artist who free draws her patterns and embroiders of them so that no one piece is exactly alike. Dali of the Dogs is named after her Dog, Dali, who she considers her great inspiration and friend.
The embroider show will commence with an artist reception and talk on March 2. The exhibition will be located at the 3rd Floor Mini Gallery of Western Ave Studios. The theme of the exhibit is the interdependence of birds with the plants they receive shelter and nourishment from. One section will be devoted to embroidered flora subjects, highlighting the intricacies of petals and branches. The other section will showcase bird feathers, with vibrant embroidered stitching representing the colorful plumage of birds whose lives are interconnected with plants.
Artists who find themselves featured in exhibits may also decide to provide Business Cards for guests to further establish a connection with potential patrons interested in their work.
