New accreditation for Foxborough police department

The Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission has reaccredited the Foxborough Police Department for another period of three years.

News of such accomplishments can be disseminated throughout a town with poster printing and other printing services.

Chief Michael Grace said the accreditation process requires law enforcement agencies to review and document compliance with both optional and mandatory standards related to community policing. He added that the reaccreditation validates the commitment of the department to operational excellence, best practices, and its dedication to serving the visitors and residents of Foxborough with accountability and integrity.

Law enforcement agencies need to meet 274 mandatory standards that address risk-management or high-liability issues, impact public and officer safety, or enhance operational efficiency within the department to qualify for accreditation. It involves lookback over three years of internal review.

The reaccreditation covered not only the 40 full-time and permanent officers of the department but the additional 32 reserve officers as well.

Deputy Chief Richard Noonan was credited by Grace with leading the time-consuming and laborious process. Grace added that this process is near and dear to Deputy Chief Noonan. Lieutenants John Chamberlin, Adam Byrnes, and Patrick Hoffman, as well as administrative staffers Lee McCarthy and Robert Bolger, assisted Deputy Chief Noonan in the effort. Grace also thanked Paige Diuncan, Town Manager, who was supportive of the initiative.
