Stadium in Foxborough to make major technological updates

Entry points at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough will be using new artificial intelligence facial recognition technology to facilitate a variety of processes at the venue, including payment.

Set to be rolled out over a number of years, this will be an upgrade of the entire network at the stadium and is intended to make the experience for fans better than watching games on television. Season ticket attendees and others who go to venues to watch games can be informed of such updates with flyer printing.

Michael Israel, Chief Information Officer of the Kraft Group, said that they are currently evaluating facial recognition systems. Israel explained that a digital wallet will be implemented. He said that once people are at the front gate, the system will sense who they are, shred their tickets, and then tie purchases made at the concession stand to their credit card and the loyalty system. There is currently a pilot program for this for contractors and employees entering the stadium. The Kraft Group is considering making the facial recognition software optional.

The Kraft Group is partnering with NWN, a company that delivers technological solutions powered by artificial intelligence, on this project. Kraft Sports and Entertainment COO Jim Nolan said the goal is to create a seamless platform for its visitors.

The Kraft Group is hoping to have this system fully implemented next year when the Gillette Stadium will host FIFA World Cup games.
