The town of Foxborough can now move forward with the last phase of the reuse plan of Foxborough State Hospital due to the passage of a new piece of legislation. This will complete the adaptative reuse of the building which has been vacant for many years and holds architectural and cultural significance for the town and the Commonwealth.
This legislation was needed for the last phase as it removed a recreational use restriction imposed by the state on a part of the land that was once part of the campus of the Foxborough State Hospital. The legislation authorizes the repurposing of the land by the Commissioner of the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance.

State Senator Paul Feeney said that the building will be converted into 10 condominiums while the land next to the building will be repurposed into a senior assisted living facility. He added that these projects will expand options for housing for residents of the town, fulfill a vital component of the housing life cycle, and protect a property that is historically important for the community.
Paige Duncan, Town Manager, expressed her gratitude to the Commonwealth and members of the legislature for working closely with the town to enable this phase of the State Hospital Reuse Plan to be completed.
