Workshop for veterans awaits at Fall River campus

The Warrior-Scholar Project Veterans workshop will be held at the Fall River campus of Bristol Community College later this month.

This workshop covers the skills that student veterans need to be successful in higher education. In the workshop, attendees will learn how to build essential academic skills, how to adapt to the culture of college, how to transfer the skills learned in the military to academic life, how to use resources provided on campus, and much more. Enlisted veterans teach who are enrolled in universities that offer four-year degrees teach this workshop, which can be taken online, and is in the formats of full day and in-person and half-day sessions.

Specific topics covered during the workshop include how to make the transition into higher education; analytical reading; study skills; and a presentation from a representative from admission to talk about the admissions process. The Joseph A. Marshall Veterans Center at Bristol Community College is a single point of contact for all materials related to the college and veterans’ affairs, academic counseling, educational benefit certification, and essential resources. It also offers opportunities for veterans to connect with their peers, assistance with job placement and preparing for jobs, and holds various recruitment activities and job fairs.

This workshop will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday February 21.
