The office in on North Main Street and is in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA). This new office enables MCAD to expand its services across the South Coast and strengthens the commitment of the Commonwealth to protecting residents from unlawful discrimination.
Sunila Thomas George, chair of MCAD, said:
“This new office represents a critical step in restoring access to civil rights protections for South Coast communities.”
George added that the partnership with DTA will enable her organization to meet people where they live and to facilitate the seeking of justice.
There is a dedicated space for MCAD within the facility so that individuals can file complaints of discrimination and connect directly with MCAD staff in a private and secure room. The hybrid approach enables personalized support and guidance from a team member of MCAD with an individual. Additional benefits include assistance with a variety of programs, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and training and employment resources; connections to medical, housing, and childcare support; and case management. These additional resources will ensure equitable access to the protection of civil rights as well as help address the broader needs of families and individuals.
