The Student Art and Design Exhibition at the Grimshaw-Gudewicz at Bristol Community College (BCC) in Fall River is now open.
The purpose of the exhibit is to serve as an important part of the college’s educational mission and to be a concluding showcase of artwork. The exhibit highlights the achievement of students while highlighting the role of critique, mentorship, and professional development within the Art and Design program.
Students are invited annually to submit work for jury review in a competitive process that reflects professional exhibition standards. The selected exhibition features a wide variety of media and approaches, showcasing the technical excellence, conceptual strength, and individual artistic voices of the students at BCC.
The exhibit also highlights the collaboration between the gallery staff and the faculty of the Art and Design program. Students work closely with those at the gallery and the faculty to develop written statements, refine strategies for presentation, and participate in the process of installing the exhibit. In this way, students gain practical knowledge of standards of exhibitions, including lighting, layout, documentation, and handling of artwork.
Being selected for a juried exhibition provides valuable encouragement and recognition as students prepare for advanced study, transfer, or professional careers in the arts.
Poster printing can be used throughout a college campus and the community to promote such exhibits. This exhibit will run through Saturday, May 16.
