Fall River opens campus for nursing education

Northeastern University has opened a campus in Fall River for its expanded nursing program which will offer an accelerated Bachelor of Science in nursing (ABSN).

The program is four semesters long and enables those later in their careers to move into health care or to expand their skills. Northeastern has similar programs in Burlington and Charlotte, North Carolina and have proven to be very popular.

The campus is on the site of Prima CARE, a local healthcare provider. The ABSN will help to create a supply of high-quality nurses in a city where there is a shortage of such talent. It will have three cohorts of students each year, each cohort with 35 students. Learning will take place in experiential simulation labs and classrooms in addition to outside the traditional academic setting. Bioskills of Northeastern will provide the training labs with hands-on experience at Saint Anne’s Hospital.

Such new programs can employ brochure printing to provide more details about courses, labs, and real-world experiences.

The ABSN from Northeastern is designed for those who hold bachelor’s degrees and might be looking to change their careers to nursing and who are lifelong learners. The Mayor of Fall River, Paul Coogan, said that this campus will create a new generation of students who will be able to improve their skills and find their passion in life.
