Antonio and Sara Rodrigues, owners of the Barcelos Bakery in Fall River, have recently expanded their operations into the adjacent former Ventura’s Pharmacy, doubling the seating capacity in the original bakery.
Most likely the couple has used poster printing in their neighborhood to let people know of this new addition.
There is now more space for customers to sit and enjoy their coffees, pastries, or the European classic sandwiches made there. Some of the featured pastries include crème horns, Napoleons, classic Portuguese custard cups, fresh cakes, and cream pies. Their sandwiches are Portuguese in origin and some of the favorites on the menu include tuna with Portuguese spices, Portuguese steak, Sao George cheese, and a new offering called ‘ao coresco’, which contains goat cheese and red peppers.
As part of the expansion, there are now four tables outside for the warmer days and a few additions to menu. Fruit salads, yogurt cups, cheesecake in a range of flavors, and ice cream are now among the eatery’s tempting treats.
The bakery is open every day of the week from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm. The Rodrigueses plan for the future to have a “working man’s lunch”, which is what they had back in Portugal. There would be a special hot meal every day, and a special dish of the day too.
