Iconic Somerset restaurant reopens with new design

Roger’s Family Restaurant in Somerset, just a short distance from Fall River, recently reopened after being closed for four months due to renovations.

According to Janet DeSilva, who runs the restaurant with Paul Laflamme, her brother, the place was last updated in 1989 and it needed a new look while continuing to serve its signature dishes.

Michelle Parenteau, of Michelle Lee Designs of Johnston, Rhode Island, designed the new look, which includes walls painted in Hamilton blue with cream and gray accents. A tile plank floor with a wood-like appearance makes up the floor, and there are new chairs in the dining room along with mercury glass lighting in a vintage style.

There is a new granite counter in the café with tile floors and red walls adorned with photographs of the long history of the restaurant in the town. The original soda fountain sink is behind the counter and was there when their parents, Marilyn and Roger, opened the place 1959.

LaFlamme said it now feels more like they are running their own restaurant rather than that of their parents, but they still wanted to keep its charm and show its roots.

The siblings may also be looking to a local Print company to Print a new menu design to accompany the décor of the restaurant, and to highlight its new menu and expanded menu options.
