Fall River to celebrate opening of new pier

The new docks at Senator Thomas Norton City Pier in Fall River will have a grand opening next month. This ceremony will be followed by the Rock the Dock: A Grand Opening Concert.

Such special events and their significance for a community and surrounding neighborhoods are often promoted with poster printing.

This event is free and will have live entertainment by Peacheaters: An Allman Brothers Band Experience, a beer garden provided by Canned Heat and Party with Primo, and food trucks. Featured among the food trucks will be Mac N Cheese Please, Kona Ice, Blount, BBQ Y Mas, and Dorothy Cox Ice Cream.

Funding for the docks was made possible by a grant from the Seaport Economic Council and by funds reserved made possible by Representative Carole Fiola.

Maura Healey, governor of Massachusetts, said that this will be a special day for the city. The Senator Thomas Norton City Pier is the social hub and heart of the economy of the city and its opening will enable the city to grow to the next level

The celebration will be from noon to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday June 1 at Norton City Pier with a rain date of Saturday June 8. The docks will be open from sunrise to sunset for docking during the daytime through the boating season.
