The online retailer Amazon recently held a job fair in a drive to recruit an additional 700 employees for its Fall River Fulfillment Center.
Such an event held in August is typically in preparation for the Christmas shopping season, but this hiring fair was needed as part of the company’s overall growth across the country.
The job fair started at 8:00 am, running for four hours, with lines going out the door and around the side of the tent where people checked in.
Cedric Ross, a spokesperson for Amazon, said that the company is looking to add to its staff in Fall River. There are opportunities for 700 people and the company hopes to fill all those jobs.
Candidates signed in, then got a tour of the facility, after which they filled out an application and had an interview.
Ross added that several job offers had been on the spot during the job fair. Most of them are related to shipping and Packaging, as the facility focuses on sorting, labeling, and shipping. The facility already employs 1,500 people.
Companies conducting recruitment drives often use the assistance of Mailing services to use Postcards and other printed materials to send to those in the surrounding communities, notifying them of any jobs that remain unfilled and how they can apply for them.
