Renovations and additions at the Orland Park Public Library are complete, and the library’s officials say all the work was finished on time and within the budget constraints.
The library says patrons will be greeted by a “bright” and “welcoming” environment optimised for efficient customer service. There are now two stations for self-checkout available for use, and soft seating available in the lobby. In the future, visitors will see a display put up in appreciation of the hard work that has been put in by local stakeholders and patrons, called the In Recognition Wall.
Speaking to Patch.com, Mary Adamowski, the library’s Assistant Director, welcomed visitors to the new Children’s Library with its More Than Grass mural, and expects children to be impressed with the nature theme highlighting the plants of the Orland Park area.
A special area for children from grades 3 to 5 has been set up. Called the In-Between Room, it features accommodations for crafting, studying, and gaming. The library’s preschool area also has a new design Adamowski hopes will encourage children to get cozy with a book. The story time room now has clear doors that allow more natural light into the space. Poster printing is often used to make such rooms more inviting.
Adamowski’s favorite new addition to the library is an outdoor reading section called The Backyard.
