Orland Park puts spotlight on popular fall holiday

An event in early October will be based around an autumn holiday that Orland Park citizens are sure to enjoy.

The Great Pumpkin Party is a child-friendly experience from city officials, created to give locals a spooky and fun day of memories. The event will include games, activities, dancing, pony rides, a DJ, inflatables, donut bobbing, a maze, a candy jar guessing contest, hay and pony rides, barrel train rides, a petting zoo, a corral of prizes, corn bins for a sensory experience, a pumpkin weight estimate game, a pumpkin patch, sponsor activities, a marshmallow roast, and a costume competition.

Added on this year is a “trunk or treat” Halloween activity. This entails attendees decorating their open car trunks and passing out candy to the kids walking between them. The decorations can be tuned to any theme they like.

Admission is $3 for those who are up to a year old, and $7 for everyone else. Purchases can be completed through the event page on the website for the company Universe. Concessions are not covered with this fee. Flyer printing is often selected by event organizers as a method of easy promotion. There are two time slots for the event on October 5th. These are 10:00am - 12:00pm and 1:00pm - 3:00pm. Included for children are Bags of gifts and pumpkins which are size appropriate for a pie. The venue will be Centennial Park.
