Orland swimmers go up Wally's Lazy River - twice

Many Orland swimmers who enjoy unique aquatic fitness challenges will be attending either Wally's Lazy River Fun Run 2.5k swim coming in late June and/or Wally's Lazy River Fun Run 5k coming in late July.

First-time racers, teens 12 and up, and families will more than likely opt for the Fun Run which will be 18 laps around the local aquatic center's lazy river. The river's water resistance and gentle current will make the experience a low-impact fun challenge.

Fees will be $15 for Orland residents, $18 for non-residents and $12 for members and preregistration is required and must be completed by June 15th.

Wally's Lazy River Fun Run 2.5k will take place Sunday, June 28th from 8:00 am to 10:15 am at Centennial Park Aquatic Center, 15600 West Avenue.

Teens and adults looking for something a little more fitness-minded may decide to "run" the moderate to challenging 5k Run. This time participants will swim around the river for 36 laps. This event will be for those swimmers 15 and older. Preregistration will be required and must be done before July 13th. Fees will be the same as for the 2.5k distance.

The 5k Fun Run will take place on July 26th from 8:00 pm to 10:15 am at the Centennial Park Aquatic Center.
