Orland Park holds annual Founder's Day tour

Commemorating the Village of Orland Park's 134 birthday, the 2026 Founder's Day, hosted by the Recreation & Parks Department, will celebrate its heritage with a guided free walking tour through the historic district of Old Orland at the end of May.

The walk has been designed to display the early settlement patterns and streetscapes of the Park's historical architecture, strengthen local identity using place-based storytelling, and provide a heritage-education experience.

A trained guide, either a trained volunteer or one of the Village of Orland Park Recreation & Parks staff, will take guests down Beacon Avenue, and 143rd Street, along Union Avenue and end on West Avenue. Although the 90-minute tour will be free, registration is required as the space is limited and the experience is intended for a small group. Everyone is encouraged to dress appropriately especially shoes as the tour will be totally outdoors and the route is passable but will include surfaces that have been worn over time and representative of historic districts.

Photos taken during historic tours like this can go to local Print shops to be made into Postcards or family cards.

The 2026 Founder's Day walking tour will begin at Studio VOP, 14409 Beacon Avenue and will run from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm on Sunday, May 31st.
