A special hiking experience will take place in Homer Glen in early December.
Orland Park residents will surely enjoy this activity. Flyer printing is often used in promotion of such events taking place at local parks.
The Lantern Night Hike is an event put together by Messenger Woods Nature Preserve. This walk runs through a two-mile stretch of the area, allowing for participants to see and hear unique aspects of nature while following a lantern-lit path. Due to the timing of the activity, this is an after-hours experience.
At this time, everyone who goes to the preserve will be required to wear a mask, whether they are vaccinated or not. While the Illinois mandate is for indoor activities, the preserve has decided that they should also be worn for outdoor experiences.
This particular hike is limited to guests who are at least 16 years of age. Those who need aid to participate can find a form to apply for it online, but this must be done no less than 48 hours before the event.
Attendees are asked to dress in warm clothing unless the weather requires otherwise, as well as bringing along their own boots. Lanterns will be given to the hikers by the preserve. Prior to the start of the journey, the group will meet and be given their items at the Oak Knoll Shelter. This hike will take place on December 2 from 7:00 pm to 8:15 pm.
