Outdoor concerts resume in Orland Park

Live entertainment returns to the suburbs of Orland Park soon, as the village puts together plans to kickstart its popular series of concerts, Centennial Park West.

The village is moving forward with its plan to host the event, and is taking certain steps to ensure safety. Flyer printing can be used to advertise events.

Orland Park’s Mayor Keith Pekau expects that about 3,000 people will show up for the concerts. This is 20% of Centennial Park West’s full capacity. At this small a percentage of its capacity, Mayor Pekau is confident that they will be able to keep people distanced enough. Pekau stated that:

“You’re putting on a great event for the public and that’s our first goal. Obviously, this year, with COVID, it’s going to be pretty hard to break even. We all want to return to normal, but we want to do it safely. We want to do it smartly.”

According to Pekau, close to 1,000 people went for the Fourth of July celebrations hosted by the village. The safety precautions that will be in place for the concerts are based on the public health guidelines laid out in the Restore Illinois plan.

The concert series will feature performances by the Shondells and Tommy James on August 22. Rock band Blue Oyster Cult, best known for their hit ‘Don’t Fear the Reaper’, has been booked to play sometime in September.
