Orland Park workshop to teach lifesaving skills

After ensuring an injured person’s airway is clear, stopping bleeding is often the next step taken by a first aider, and an upcoming workshop will show how to make this happen.

The class, which has been dubbed “Stop the Bleed”, will give people with little to no medical training knowledge and skills that can be used to provide care until professional assistance is on the scene. Presented by the Orland Fire Protection district, the event is open to anyone who lives in Orland Park and the surrounding communities.

During the session, the group will learn through a combination of lecture and hands-on learning. The syllabus has been developed through the joint efforts of the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians and the American College of Surgeons, and each learner will have an opportunity to practice the skills they will be taught.

At the end of the workshop, every student who took apart will go home with a bleeding control kit they can take home to add to their own household first aid kit. Printed instructional materials for this sort of function are just some of the materials Print shops can prepare for an event like this.

The Orland Fire Protection District Command Training Center has made arrangements to offer this lifesaving training on April 17 at 10728 West 163rd Place. There is no fee being charged to register.
