Orland Park store to run workshop

A shop based in Orland Park will be hosting a class for residents interested in woodworking in mid-March.

Bowl Turning with HSS Traditional Tools is a lesson where attendees learn the art of creating a bowl from a piece of wood, using machines and other tools that have been used in the process for some time.

A skilled craftsman will lead students through the various cuts they can make, how to sharpen the tools when needed, the process of chucking, and what it takes to finish off their pieces. Each participant will be left with some new skills and a bowl they made to take with them.

Rockler Woodworking and Hardware’s local location will act as the venue for the event. In addition to being a studio that runs classes, the space is also a storefront. The type of products sold often relate back to the lessons held there, in addition to other items needed for the craft of woodworking. There is also an online store that those interested can shop from.

In order to partake in this activity, guests will need to register and purchase their $90 tickets using Eventbrite. The age for this particular event is restricted to those who are at least 18.

The class will last for about two and a half hours, running from 10:00am to 12:30pm. Flyer printing will often be an advertising method for activities like this organized by local businesses. The date is set for Saturday, March 11.
