Orland Park has received yet another recognition for its efforts to give those who live there the best possible quality of life.
The US Conference of Mayors City Livability Program awarded the community their Outstanding Achievement Award due to the mayor’s community-wide Anti-Bullying Initiative. The prize was presented to the Village Board during one of its recent meetings. Banner printing firms can create a variety of decorations and other items that can be used to help celebrate the town’s achievement.
According to Jocelyn Bogen, who is the director of the of the program, the reason Orland Park was chosen is because the mayor’s leadership when it comes to fostering a partnership between the citizens and their government, and how that can help to bring about changes that are positive and give everyone a better life.
It was felt that the anti-bullying initiative, which began in 2014, goes a long way towards sending the message that this type of behavior will not be accepted and provides a platform for partnerships between the agencies and other stakeholders involved.
The City Livability Awards prize program was started up in 1979, and each year, it is given to 10 mayors and their respective cities. The categories are broken down by size, one for communities of 100,000 or less, and the other for ones that are larger. More than 200 cities and towns submitted applications for the award.
