An Oak Park organization is asking residents to celebrate the arrival of Spring by cleaning out their houses and making donations to help it improve its building.
The Oak Park Art League (OPAL) is 100 years old this year and is doing some fundraising to make improvements to its building, including installing a new bathroom that is ADA compliant. The OPAL is suggesting that everyone take part in the Big Spring Clean Donation Drive, find those items in their cupboards and closets that are no longer needed, and donate them to the League. OPAL is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping support artists throughout their careers.
They are accepting women’s, men’s, and children’s clothing including Backpacks, belts, ties, fashion accessories, wallets, shoes, scarves, and coats; and small household items such as games and toys, serving pieces, glasses, silverware, pots and pans, and small electronics. They are also accepting household textiles such as pillows, blankets, towels, bedding, tablecloths, curtains, and linen.
OPAL requests that textiles and clothes be placed in Bags, and small household items be tightly packed in Boxes. They also request that all the items and clothing donated be in sellable condition, and clean.
The donation drop-off date is April 24, from 1.00 pm until 4.00 pm, at OPAL, which is located at 720 Chicago Avenue in Oak Park. Banner printing can be used to create signage to help participants find locations in situations like this.
