An important new film will be screened soon in Oak Park.
Louie Psihoyos, who is a licensed scuba diver, was concerned with bringing awareness to the problems of life in the oceans. As a result, he made a documentary, “The Cove,” in 2009, for which he won the Oscar®. He is the director of a new film, “The Game Changers.”
Psihoyos' latest effort has some high-powered executive producers including Chris Paul, Jackie Chan, Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Cameron, among others. The film follows James Wilks, who trains Special Forces personnel and won The Ultimate Fighter, as he travels around the world to find out what diet athletes should be eating to perform at the optimum level. The film includes what Wilks finds out as he meets everyday people, scientists, soldiers, elite athletes, and cultural icons, and how that changes the way he understands food, and what true strength is.
“The Game Changers” will be shown beginning at 10.00 am on March 7, at the Classic Cinemas Lake Theatre on Lake Street in Oak Park. A discussion will follow the showing, and young adults and teens are especially encouraged to attend. The film is rated PG-13, and the doors will open 30 minutes before showtime. Attendees will be able to purchase refreshments. Flyer printing can be used to create handouts for programs such as this.
