Beer lovers should get ready to race in Oak Park soon.
The Illinois Brewery Running Series is the host of the run. They are one of many Brewery Running organizations that hold events to raise funds for charity; the concept began in Minnesota in 2012. In Oak Park, the run will start and finish at One Lake Brewing on Lake Street.
The course is described as being 5K-ish in length, and allows participants to run through the neighborhood at their own pace, since the race is not timed. No matter how long it takes for someone to finish, they will find a cold beer at the end of the race.
Included in the ticket price is a free beer from One Lake; the runner’s choice of a Brewery Running Series seasonal swag item or a collector’s pint glass; and a chance to win door prizes, which include Brewery Running Series products, or a growler from One Lake. Finally, everyone will have access to goodies, games, festivities, and giveaways.
Organizers note that they will follow CDC and local health guidelines in effect at the time of the run, which may mean changes will be made to the schedule. They also note the course is open, meaning there will be no road closures to accommodate runners. Banner printing can be used to create course markers for outdoor events like this.
The Beer Run is scheduled for September 19, starting at 11.00 am.
