Howard Simmons will unveil his new art exhibition at the Oak Park Public Library’s main branch in January.
Stories My Camera Tells is an art exhibit that celebrates the work of Howard Simmons, a professional photographer who has been taking pictures since the 1970s. The gallery will feature a selection of Simmons’ favorite photos from his career. The subjects of the images include urban street scenes and politicians. Simmons is a photojournalist and commercial photographer who started his career in 1966 as a photo lab technician for Gateway Studios. He also worked for publications like Ebony as a staff photographer. Simmons has created advertisements for several companies, including Sears, Coca-Cola, and Folgers. His works have featured notable people like Oprah Winfrey, Walter Payton, and Harold Washington. He currently owns a business called Howard Simmons Photography.
The art exhibit will debut on Tuesday, January 14 and will stay open until Saturday, February 15. The exhibition will be held in the Main Library Gallery. There is no cost to view Simmons’ exhibition, and all ages can explore the gallery.
