Oak Park residents who would like to go to Paris but can't make the trip are in luck - Paris is coming to them, courtesy of three cabaret artists who love the City of Light. Ty Cooper, Elizabeth Doyle, and Claudia Hommel are vocalists who all have deep connections to Paris, and who have founded an organization called the Chicago Paris Cabaret Connexion, a group that encourages exchanges of singers between the two cities.
All three women have strong connections with Paris. Cooper lived in Europe for eight years, and Paris is one of her favorite cities on the Continent. She notes that not only is it beautiful, it's a great city for people to enjoy on foot.
Doyle, who plays the piano as well as singing and writing songs, started speaking French in first grade at school in South Dakota. At the end of high school, she spent a year in France as an exchange student. As for Hommel, she was born in Paris, where her father was a music student. She lived the first four years of her life in France’s capital city.
The upcoming performance will feature songs written by Doyle, and stories of life in France by all three performers. The “Apres Paree” evening will take place at the Open Door Theater in Oak Park on October 27, 2017.
Events like this can be enhanced if organizers work with a poster printing company to create colorful placards advertising the show.
