A chef from The Global Peel will offer a four-day cooking course in Oak Park at the Cheney Mansion Kitchen.
Cooking Around the World is a program where kids can learn about the cultures of different countries through the art of cooking. Each day of the course will have a different theme, such as Japanese Kaiseki, Seafood Prep and Cooking, and Pasta and Pastry. Children will be taught the history of different cultures while they cook and be treated to lunch each class. The intended audience for the program is children who are 12 to 16 years old.
The instructor for the class is Tara Humphrey, an experienced chef and writer who is part of The Golden Peel cooking school. Humphrey has taught in classrooms around the world and has been featured in publications such as Elite Magazine. She was also a Dallas Slam Champion. Humphrey can be booked for class workshops, and people can pay her for poems and performances. The Golden Peel offers lessons like US History Through Food, The Americas, and World War II Through Food.
The cooking program will be held from January 2nd to January 5th. Each session will last from 9:00 am to noon. The cost for kids to attend the program ranges from $52 to $69. Cooking schools that put together programs like this may use poster printing to advertise their lessons to families in their communities.
