Blue Man Group will appear at the Briar Street Theater in Chicago, a short trip from Oak Park. The theater has been closed for many months due to the ongoing health crisis, and is now reopening with the group as the first act.
Blue Man Group was formed in 1987 by Phil Stanton, Matt Goldman, and Chris Wink, who were close friends living on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. They put on blue masks and led a parade through the streets, and were spotted by Kurt Loder of MTV. They performed in local clubs, and finally gave a major show in 1991, at the Astor Place Theater.
The performers always appear in groups of three, are always painted blue, and never speak. They explore a number of current issues in their skits, such as technology, science, and information overload.
